GOPAC Samoa MPs Active in Nation’s Accession to UNCAC

Samoa MPs to Bolster Anti-Corruption Efforts
Parliamentarians from Samoa voted to establish their own GOPAC Samoa chapter in Apia, Samoa during an Integrity Workshop conducted by the UN Pacific Regional Anti-Corruption (UN-PRAC) Project and GOPAC (Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption). In the MENA-OECD Governance Forum, GOPAC Chair Fadli Zon Emphasized the Role of Parliament in Pursuing Inclusive Growth
Deputy Speaker of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR-RI), who is also the Chairman of Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), Fadli Zon, spoke in the MENA-OECD Governance Forum held in Tunis, Tunisia, on October 3rd-4th 2016 (local time). The forum, organized by OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) and the Government of Tunisia, serves as a platform for stakeholders, civil society, and representatives from international organizations to share their perspectives and strategies in pursuing inclusive growth, especially for countries in the MENA region. GOPAC Workshop strengthens Parliament’s role in SDGs
Parliaments’ role in supporting the implementation of the SDGs has been strengthened through a Regional Workshop in Jakarta, supported by GOPAC and the Islamic Development Bank (ISDB), UNDP, and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD). Canada’s Role in Combatting Global Corruption: Canadian Club of Victoria Luncheon with the Hon Roy Cullen
GOPAC Anti-Money Laundering Global Task Force member Hon Roy Cullen, P.C, C.A. delivered a presentation on how Canada has been and continues to be an ardent supporter of the anti-corruption movement at the Canadian Club of Victoria. He urged the government to emulate the efforts of the United Kingdom with respect to the creation of a publicly-accessible registry of beneficial owners of companies operating within the country.
